What Makes CrossFit Ironside Different
At CrossFit Ironside, we help you build real strength—inside and out—through functional movement, expert coaching, and a supportive community. Our workouts blend strength training, conditioning, gymnastics, and high-intensity intervals to help you feel strong, capable, and energized for life outside the gym.
Every day brings a new challenge, but our program stays grounded in what works: smart progressions, good movement, and personalized coaching for every level. Whether you’re new to fitness, balancing life and work, or pushing toward your next performance goal, you’ll find your place here.
We’re more than a gym. We’re a crew that shows up, works hard, and has each other’s backs—on and off the floor. Come see what CrossFit Ironside is all about!
Coaches Who Walk the Walk
At CrossFit Ironside, coaching isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. Our Team is made up of people who’ve walked the same path as our members: juggling work, family, injuries, setbacks, and comebacks. We have coaches who’ve played Division I sports, battled through burnout, trained through pregnancy, and rediscovered themselves through CrossFit after years away from fitness.
We are united by a deep belief that fitness should be challenging—but never overwhelming—and a commitment to helping others find their strength, confidence, and purpose through movement. Whether you’re a total beginner or getting back on track after a long break, our coaches know how to meet you exactly where you are.
We keep things real, approachable, and fun—and we’re not afraid to cheer loud, lift heavy, or laugh along the way.

My fitness background includes being a cross-country athlete, volleyball player, marathoner and personal trainer. However, nothing has simultaneously pushed me to my limits and grown me as an athlete like CrossFit. I love the energy and strength that I get from working out. As a mom of three young kids, I also have a passion for helping women with their unique fitness goals during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. Certifications: CrossFit Level 2 Coach, CF Kids, CF Endurance

At a very young age I found the sport of soccer. I absolutely loved it and it was a strong part of my identity. When an injury sidelined my career in college I struggled finding something to fill that void. I tried running but it never satisfied my competitive drive because (let’s be honest) it was just something to keep me “in shape” but I didn’t love it. Fast forward quite a few years and 2 kids later I had put on some weight, was feeling crappy and needed some sort of an outlet that running wasn’t satisfying anymore. As an outpatient, orthopedic Physical Therapist (PT) and Strength & Conditioning Specialist I kept hearing about CrossFit. However, after having a few patients with “CrossFit injuries” I swore it was nuts and I was never going to do it. I mean why would anyone do some of these things?! Around this time a good friend and PT colleague had become hooked on CrossFit and convinced me to try a class. I was hesitant but I knew something needed to change so I took the leap and here I am! CrossFit satisfies my competitive spirit in a healthier way than I thought was possible and I actually enjoy pushing my body to its limit. I am stronger both mentally and physically than I have been in a very long time. At Ironside I have found a community that feels like I’m back on a team and I’ve been officially hooked ever since. As a coach, I love seeing others get excited about fitness, performing lifts or movements they never thought they could, and becoming part of a community. I get to use some of my tools as a PT to ensure people aren’t putting themselves or their bodies at risk of injury, allowing them to continue to stay active and perform activities that they love. Certifications: CrossFit Level 1 Coach, NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist

I am a proud graduate of Miami University, where I played Division I Football and earned four varsity letters. After college, I continued to seek out physical challenges such as mixed martial arts, Obstacle Course Races and the occasional half marathon. CrossFit challenges and excites me in a way I haven’t experienced since playing college football. I absolutely love the fact that you can continue to improve your fitness as you age. As an athlete who was not always the most gifted, I understand how far an individual can advance if he or she is dedicated to working hard. When I was initially introduced to CrossFit, I was quickly humbled. Everyone has a weakness (or several) and I learned we accept the athlete wherever we meet them. All are accepted and welcome, give your best effort…whatever that may be. Also, make sure you work out with people who encourage you and support your development. Ironside is a special place because you can develop as an athlete no matter your level of fitness. The coaches and athletes are fantastic! Finally, advice I would offer to anyone getting ready to start a CrossFit program; do your best. Whatever you consider your best effort, give it at the box. As your fitness improves, your results will follow. Form follows function. Come see us at Ironside and we will explain what that means. Certifications: CrossFit Level 2 Coach

I was very active in high school but seemed to have gotten lazy during college and grad school. I gained a decent amount of weight after school and decided it was time to get back into shape. I experimented with various at home workout programs and was able to get back into ok shape. I did that for a couple of years and eventually got tired of doing the same workouts alone in my basement. I had seen the Crossfit Games on tv and decided to look for a crossfit gym near me, luckily, Crossfit Ironside was the gym I found. Crossfit Ironside is not just a gym, it’s a community. It’s a place where people of all walks of life are there with one common goal; improve their fitness and overall well being. The athletes and coaches at Ironside provide an environment of competition and camaraderie that I have found integral to my fitness. When Mellissa and Daniel asked me if I would want to become a coach at Ironside, I jumped at the opportunity. I feel very fortunate to be able to help guide people through their fitness journey. Though always more of an academic than an athlete in school, I learned in college and grad school that while I loved playing sports, I never enjoyed what I considered “exercise.” Intramurals turned into adult pickup basketball and softball leagues where post-game liquid calories far exceeded any burned during the game. I began to focus on running between the demands of a busy job and a newborn, and while multiple marathons did improve my fitness, I never truly enjoyed it. It only took one CrossFit class for me to be hooked. It provided the intensity of team competition, the insights and attention from a coach, an opportunity for me to learn and develop in completely new areas, and a camaraderie and community that I never would have expected. And it works. While I may not be ready to run 26.2 miles, my overall fitness today far exceeds where it was when I started – strength, explosiveness and coordination while maintaining speed and endurance. As a snowboard instructor and previous whitewater rafting guide, I have experience and a passion for helping folks achieve their goals – learning how to ride that black diamond run or finding the confidence to overcome fears of a rapid. As a coach, I love watching people get better every day and push themselves to achieve what they didn’t think was possible. Certifications: CrossFit Level 1 Coach
